Free players

No price is better than free, and NBA 2K21 gives you a few options for free players.

The first option is locker codes for individual players. MyTEAM has several temporary locker codes to unlock major players. Along with free players NBA 2K21 has had plenty of free packs, VC, tokens, and NBA2K21 MT. As long as you keep up to date on temporary locker code goodies, you can stack up against your team for the cost of nothing at all.

Keep Some, Sell Some

You’ll notice yourself buying more and more packs of cards and coming across a lot of duplicates. Most will be of players you have no intention of using and can be quickly offloaded in the auction house for some quick MT, but now and then you’ll get duplicates of your favorites. The best thing you can do is hang onto some copies. As your contracts start expiring you’ll need to rebuild your team and having copies of good players ensures that you can have a strong team in reserve.

Do A Bit Of Everything

You need to play a little bit of everything. Every game mode is designed to reward you in different ways and if you get too obsessed with Triple Threat Offline you’ll find yourself swimming in MT but lacking VC. Take some time to spend a few play sessions doing a bit of everything.

Play Daily (If Possible)

Every day there are challenges you can complete for decent rewards. If you play for seven days in a row you’ll get a chance to spin the wheel and this is where the rewards really lie.

Triple Threat Offline Grinding

TTO

One way to quickly amass MT is to play the game mode Triple Threat Offline. It’s a lot easier to win matches against a computer than against other players and it’s an efficient way of grinding up some MT.

Build Around Strengths

Once you’ve decided on your long-term goals you need to identify what your strengths are and build a team around them. If you’re better at aggressive play then build an aggressive team, if you find yourself doing better at the three-point line then get players who do well at that range. Figure out what works for you and build around that.

Set VC Budget Parameters

If you’re willing to use some of your hard-earned VC in MyTeam, decide how much you’re willing to use in the mode, and how much you’ll save for MyCareer. Perhaps you want to do a 50-50 split, or even 70-30? Because VC won’t be the major currency used with this MyTeam plan, I’d advise the 70-30 or even 75-25 split with the lesser amount going to VC.

Set Budget Parameters for MT

You need to decide how you’ll allocate your MT. How much will go toward chasing great cards on the auction block, and how much of it will you spend on opening packs? Both pack openings and the auction house are great ways to add to your team. Unfortunately, you can’t buy the huge box sets of packs with MT. You can buy single packs, though you won’t get as much for your MT. Still, it provides you a chance to pull some of the best cards in every set. I like to use a 50-50 split between auction and packs. It allows me to structure the pursuit of great cards.

Set an MT and VC Paydays

It’s not really wise to spend MT and VC every day, or whenever you hit a certain amount. Discipline yourself to use those percentages we talked about before, and to only spend one day per week. If Friday is your MT and VC paydays, that’s the day you should be going to the auction house, and buying packs. If you have accumulated 80,000 MT for the week, and 45,000 VC, you know you’re going to the Auction House with 40,000 MT and buying packs with the other half. If you have 45,000 VC, you may pour in a little over 33,000 of it into your MyPlayer, but the other bit can go toward packs.
